When I scroll up and down the screen, some piece of the text become 
highlighted. Usually less than a paragraph.

Could you give us an example file ? And I am missing some information like:
- Which distribution are you using ?
- Is this under KDE/GNOME/XFCE/something different ?
- Is this happening only with one document / all documents ?
- Have you tried a newer version of OOo ? And if so: Does this problem still exist ?
