Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 3719
Rendering of Type1 Fonts doesn't work
Last modified: 2008-05-17 23:41:28 UTC
I'am using 641D on a SuSE 7.3 with KDE 2.x. Working with any docuument works without problems, when I do not use Type1 fonts. As soon as I try to format some characters using Type1 fonts the height of the line is changed to use a whole page. Please look at the screenshots: 1. document with 1 page containing 5 lines with some text 2. I selected the third line an gave it the font BauhausITC -> I have now three pages. The first with 2 lines the second with only one line and the third with again 2 lines.

Reassigned to Ulf.
Perhaps I have the solution for this problem. On my machine I had the same problem and after some searching and fiddling I found that the Type1-AFMs generation is broken. E.g. /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/putb.afm starts StartFontMetrics 2.0 Comment kfontinst iso8859-15 FontName Utopia-Bold FullName Utopia Bold FamilyName Utopia Weight Bold Notice Created with kfontinst v0.11 ItalicAngle 0 IsFixedPitch false UnderlinePosition -100 UnderlineThickness 50 Version 001.00 EncodingScheme FontSpecific FontBBox -10158080 -16384000 81854464 60030976 Descender -250 Ascender 916 StartCharMetrics 228 Note the FontBBox above which should read as FontBBox -155 -250 1249 916 or something similar. Ah yes, the AFMs were generated by kcmfontinst from kde3(.01). Probably the same will appear with kfontinst. So, if you (Zlatko) try to create your Type1-AFMs with e.g. type1afm (from t1lib) your problem will also disappear?
us->Zlatko: broken AFMs?
Tried it again with SuSE 8.1 and it worked
