Description andreschnabel 2004-11-15 21:50:24 UTC
In Options - Language Settings - Writing Aids the minimum valid number for
"Characters before line break" is 2.
But some languagues allow just 1 character before line breakt (like "O-fen" in
new German orthography).

So the minimum valid number should be 1 in resprect to those language rules.
(The default should be left as is - 2 is ok).

IMHO this should be wontfix by itself, as it is one of the most useless rules in
the new orthography...

but reason for wontfix is that it would blow up the number of required
hyphenation patterns with high risk of introducing bad hyphenation as regression
for a feature that nobody with a sane mind would use. You can always add a
conditional break/soft hyphen (or add a corresponding entry to your user
dictionary) when a linebreak after one single letter is really needed.

Wontfix because of too high risk of breaking things/too much effort to get it
right for very little gain.

After some terrible hyphenations and some research I've realised that OOo could
not hyphenate after only one charakter because the settings doesn't allow
entering "1". Now I've found this issue.

It's very frustrating to go through a document and do all neccessary
hyphenations manually. My vote for this issue, although it's "wontfix" - hoping,
some others will vote for it, too.
