Description g.marxen 2004-11-22 16:59:19 UTC
If you create a table of bibliographic entries in a document and then update
this table, it is always updated with the bibliographic entries from inside the
document.

So if you corrected the bibliographic database, these changes are not reflected
in the table.

Please add an option "Update Bibliography from Bibliographic database" in the
"Insert, Indexes and Tables, Indexes and Tables, Bibliographic" dialog.

G. Maxen, Thank you for your suggestion.

This is one of the limitations of the existing bibliographic facilities that
have been documented by the OpenOffice Bibliographic Project. So I have made
this issue a duplicate of our 'master' bibliographic issue 4260.

The solution to this problem requires a redesign of the bibliographic
facility. Currently it does not maintain any link between the original
database record and the bibliographic record, so there is the problem of how
the records could be matched if, say the author, title and date were
'corrected'. This is solvable, the system could ask the user to find the
match, but it becomes a complex problem. The new OASIS approved Openoffice
file format will contain provision for storing maintaining bibliographic
database links.
