Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 39219
The grouping of the 'Small Device Filter' should be changed
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:26:47 UTC
- the grouping of the 'Small Filter Devices' could be misleading - just selecting 'Small Filter Devices' to install without selecting submodules nothing will be installed at all - the new grouping should be: pocket word and pocket excel are only one module - the naming or description of the 'Pocket PC' module should mention both filter and be a submodule of 'Optional Components' - the 'Palm' module should be a submodule 'Optional Components' - the module name or description should mention the 'AportisDoc' format - strings have to be specified - UI related
It's not a defect.
CJ -> IS: I took a look at the Custom Setup of a m67, but I can't find a grouping called 'Small Filter Devices' there exists only a grouping called 'Mobile Device Filters''. However, we should remove this tree. This means we add under ''Optional Components' two modules 1. palmOne AportisDoc Filter Description (de): Unterstützung des AportisDoc Formats für Palm-OS-kompatible Handhelds. 2. Pocket PC Word and Excel Filter Description (de): Unterstützung von ActiveSync, Pocket Word und Pocket Excel für Pocket-PC-kompatible Handhelds. If you think these strings are OK please send them to EM for transllations. Thanks.
of: EM isn't anylonger the correct token for Liz. Has been changed to liz.
IS -> CJ: There a two problems preventing me from fixing this. 1. This change requires a spec. There are even new module names and module descriptions that need to be localized. I think, without a spec, the gatekeeper will prevent us from integrating the cws containing this task. That is currently too dangerous. 2. For every module below "Optional Components" a RPM or Solaris Package is created. The Javainstaller package is already very, very small. With your change we would split it into two even smaller modules. Therefore I would prefer, to leave the module 'Mobile Device Filters' as it is and to put the two new modules below this. Then the complete content of 'Mobile Device Filters' could be packed into one RPM or Solaris package (as we do it today).
CJ-> LHO: Please, decide what to do next.
LHO -> CJ: Ich changed both, priority and target of this issue. Ingo is right, we do need a spec for this. The spec needs to cover not only this minor change, but the entire structure of our module selection, so we can track these changes in one place instead of many single specs. Please clarify if we already have such a document or if we need to write a new spec from scratch. In the spec, please redefine the module structure for the small device / mobile device section, and check if there are similar issues in other areas of our module tree.
