Set to new as asked by HI.
Comment 5 h.ilter 2005-01-05 11:50:12 UTC
HI->sgfan: Math doesn't support any page format and you should get the same by
printing.
Workaround: Disable the print options under Tools - Options... - Formular -
Settings.
It is recommended to embed the formular in writer to export as pdf.

There is nothing wrong with the PDF export. It behaves the very same way
printing the document would do.

The problem is that Math was never desigend to know about page sizes, and thus
e.g. there will never be a line break when the border of the line is reached
(since it is not known where such a border is) or a page break if the formula is
to large to fit on a single page.
If Math were meant to write books or large papers with it would probably have
features like that but then it would probably have most of the features of a
text document, thus a text document should have been used in the first place.

The only proper thing to do is to embed formulas in other documents (e.g. text
documents). And even there if the size (height or width) is to big it won't fit
in. Think of it similar to try putting a large graphic object in a page that is
too small. In those cases you have to break down your large formula in smaller ones.

ok, now I see the issue.

it's just a design flaw.
Math has been built for on screen formula editing/sharing and not printing.

Why should Math remain such a limited application? It has so much potencial of
being a great formula editor and bugs like this just make it worse. It is one of
the best things in OOo and it would be stupid not ot enhance it even more.
