Description ousia 2005-01-12 15:56:18 UTC
I have created an oot document with OOWriter 1.9.58 and 00Writer 1.9.69 is not
able to open it (either from inside the application or not). Invoking OOWriter
by double-clicking on the document, I got the following report:

reassigned to ES.
Comment 3 eric.savary 2005-01-13 10:49:39 UTC
That the older oot format doesn't load is normal.
See:

http://development.openoffice.org/releases/1.9.m65_snapshot.html

and issue 39256.

But it shouldn't crash!
I cannot reproduce this crash (just tested in m70 on WinXp + Linux).
Can you reproduce it every time?

Comment 5 ousia 2005-01-13 23:22:06 UTC
It happens every time I use OpenOffice.org 1.9.69 by double-clicking the
document and selecting it from the application list (in W2K).
Comment 6 flibby05 2005-01-21 20:59:15 UTC
hi ousia,

do you open it by doubleclicking in the Windows Explorer or do you double click
it from File -> Open?
Comment 7 ousia 2005-01-22 12:26:51 UTC
Hi Max,

I don't see any difference on both methods to open a file. The oot extension is
not registered (at least on my system) and I have to choose an application to
open it with. The only application in the list is "OpenOffice.org 1.9.69" and if
selected, it will crash when opening the attached file.

And about what "es" told on the oot obsolete file format, I think it would be
fine (even in a product from the development branch) that OOo would perform the
oot > odt conversions automagically. (IMHO ;-)
Comment 8 flibby05 2005-01-22 12:53:45 UTC
hi Ousia,

>> I don't see any difference on both methods to open a file
for the computer it makes a difference, see issue 36327.

If you can reprocude the crash with a recent milestone build (f.e. 19m69) we
still have a problem. Otherwise i would close this issue as WorksForMe, because
both issues (crash, when opening a file from Windows Explorer And milestone 69
does not open OOT) would be solved.

Comment 9 ousia 2005-01-22 22:39:48 UTC
Hi Max,

I'm afraid that the invoking "soffice 12i05-Herder.oot" from the console leads
to crash (swriter leads to crash, too).

soffice/swriter work fine when opening an .odt file.

I hope this helps. By the way, wouldn't be easier to implement the automatic
conversion to avoid this bug?

hi ousia,

> By the way, wouldn't be easier to implement the automatic

in milestone builds functions, features and fileformats may change anytime.
For a converting tool: oot -> odt you may search the archives of the
openoffice.org maillists.

If you have any new issue please feel free to submit it in Issuezilla. We
honestly value this.
