Comment 1 atr 2002-04-17 09:11:25 UTC
I could not reproduce this issue. The selecting/deselecting the file
types causes no crash.
Comment 2 Unknown 2002-04-18 08:50:37 UTC
I am currently using a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 notebook running
Winodws 98SE. I have tried loading Versions 638 and 641 and get the
same error.

My previous laptop was a Hewlett-Packard XE3 with Windows 98SE and I
was able to load Version 638 without problems. Ihave been able to
load Versions 638 and 641 on other PC's running Windows ME and 2000.

SAL3.DLL is not installed on my laptop, so I assume that it is part
of the OpenOffice install set.

I cannot determine why the installation process fails, nor am I able
to take any action to correct it. SAL3.DLL install problems for
OpenOffice and StarOffice are noted in several postings in Google
Forums.

I can't reproduce on WinME/98. What's about OOo 1.0.1? Still the same?
Comment 6 Unknown 2002-10-09 04:34:01 UTC
Tried again to extract and install from
OOo_1.0.1_Win32Intel_install.zip and got the following message ...

Hi Tino,
do you have any idea what could happen at this state of setup? I have
never had achance to reproduce a crash in sal3.dll.
Comment 10 tino.rachui 2002-12-03 12:30:20 UTC
I heard of a similary problem but until now was not able to reproduce
it. Maybe its a memory overwrite in the setup or something similary
suspect.
Is the problem still there with newer versions of OO?
Comment 11 Unknown 2002-12-03 23:44:09 UTC
I downloaded the latest OpenOffice this morning :
File name = OOo_1.0.1_Win32Intel_install.zip
File Size = 53,019,280 bytes

Extracted ZIP, ran setup.exe, entered details, selected type as
standard install, selected install folder, ran install, and got the
same error message.

module SAL3.DLL at 016f:004c8584.

Comment 12 tino.rachui 2002-12-14 14:20:26 UTC
Cannot reproduce the chrash, neither with OO1.0.1 nor with OO1.0.2.
I suggest to reject the bug as not reproducable.

Regards,
Tino

Issues 4688, 7501 and 9319 appear to report the same problem that
some users have installing OpenOffice, related to the SAL3.DLL. If
it cannot be reproduced, then it is environmental, not general, but
does not mean that it does not exist, and may be largely unreported.
Comment 14 Olaf Felka 2002-12-16 11:21:22 UTC
I can't reproduce either, so I'll set this to remind untill we find a
way to reproduce.

I've got no further feedback for OOo 1.1. Next OOo version would have
native installers and filetype selection will move to the Options dialog.
