Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 41964
[RFE]- Insert Header and Footer option - some additions and deletions
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:37:54 UTC
In OO.o Writer the option for Header and Footer is given in the Insert Menu. This is fine as far as Header and footer is concerned. The present set up of this menu is: Insert > ... .... Header > ->All ------------- -> Default -> Footnote and Footer > ->All ------------- -> Default -> Footnote This menu could be modified as follows: Insert -> ... ... Header and Footer > -> Header On [ when Header is not present or else Off ] -> Footer On [ when Footer is not present or else Off ] ----------------- Settings... // This would open the Header and Footer Settings dialog [which could be cut off from the Format Page dialog]. Here the user can make further settings for both. By default when Headers or Footers are turned on they will follow the default values specified as in the present Header/Footer part of Page dialog [adjusting margins to the width / height of the page and so...] // This would simplify the 'Page' dialog and make it lighter and compact. Also see issue 41704]
reassigned to requirements. I think, The current way to activate Header/Footer is quite good. To indicate which header is currently active, is indicated by a hook in front of the Style name in the menu. But the addition of the settings option in the menu could be good. This should open the Header/Footer tabpage of the actual page style.
I was asking for the removal of Footnote from the sub-menu of Header because there is already a separat 'Footnote...' menu item under the 'Insert' menu. if the menu is about showing /hiding the footnotes, then it could be shifted to the 'View' menu. Further 'Footnotes' from the 'Tools' menu could also be removed if the 'Settings' menu item is added as proposed. Thanks, Aparan.
