Description mkol 2005-02-03 22:47:18 UTC
OOo 1.1 writer offers Gradient and Hatching for Drawing objects, but they are
not available for pages like Word *offers them* through it's background option.

Is it possible for OOo writer too, to have Gradient and Hatching options for
formatting page (and paragraphs/characters ?) backgrounds?

reassigned to requirements.

I strongly support this.

Put more generally:
Why not allow gradients and other "fill styles" (as they are available for
graphic objects) for ANY object's backgrounds, as f.e.
- page backgrounds (this issue)
- table cells (issue 44934)
- paragraph backgrounds (looks nice for heading backgrounds, f.e. Currently I
use gradient images as workaround)
- any other backgrounds, e.g. frame backgrounds.

I do agree!
Please implement it as soon as possible! Using gradient picture is not so user

Confirmed with OOo 2.0.4, WinXP PC.
- Calc and Writer only allow page backgrounds with 'Color' or 'Graphic' (image).
- In Draw extra options are available for Gradients and Hatchings.
It would be useful if these features were available in all the office apps.
Also, it may save some code to unify the page background options.
