Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 43220
MS Word import: "Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style"
Last modified: 2019-08-01 09:08:03 UTC
Word 2002 (XP) and above has a Paragraph formatting feature, "Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style." Importing a document using that feature in OpenOffice.org wrecks havoc for spacing because that feature is not supported, so too much space is made. Hopefully it should be straightforward to add a parallel functionality to the OOo import and formatting components. I'll attach a test case if I can. Thanks for a great product! -Ken

MRU->AMA: it is a feature in paragraph formatting, which needs to be implemented. This option makes Word ignore the spacing between two paragraphs of the same style.
I can confirm that this happens between MS Word 2003 and OOo 2.0.3 Grr. - RG>
It would be nice probably to have inner and outer spacing options for a block of paragraphs of the same style. We discussed this issue here: http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php? f=7&t=7096&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a Now we don't have a good solution for doing such things (options are: 4 extra styles, line breaks, text frames or direct formatting). Thanks, -Mike
This is preventing me from migrating to OOWriter! :-(

Indeed, a dupe of 34199 (assuming that one doesn't end up being just about lists).
IMHO, we need a feature similar to MsWord. http://onlineitpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/paragraphmenu.png Thanks for your attention
