Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 43287
Media Player scroll-bar doesn't update the visible frame
Last modified: 2006-02-14 13:22:22 UTC
The media-player toolbar has a horizontal scroll-bar (I'm not sure it's proper name) which can be dragged to skip forwards or backwards in a movie or other multi-media clip. When the movie is stopped or paused, dragging the scroll-bar does not result in the visible frame being updated to reflect the new position in the file, as you would expect. This make it very hard to determine where you are in a movie. -> The frame visible in the media window should be updated as (or immediately after) the scroll-bar is dragged.
Sorry, I have no problems with that. Dragging the scrollbar updates the view instantly. Which OS do you use, which version? Maybe a special video format? Thanks.
I'm using linux (FC3/Gnome), OOo-1.9.79, j2re-1.4.2-11, JMF-2.1.1e
oh yes, I've been testing it with a variety of MPEG-1s movies (nothing obscure as far as I know)
Can you attach one of these files? I am still not able to reproduce this. Thanks in advance.
Windows XP Pro (5.1) OOo 2.0 Beta2 v1.9.125 (english) AMD Athlon 1.2Ghz 1024MB RAM Radeon 9200 Pro 128mb (ati2dvag driver) I was not able to reproduce the defect on my configuration. I tested several different MPEG and .avi videos and the scrollbar worked instantly. I tested both when the video was paused and when it was still playing and it updated instantly in both cases.
Can anyone (other than me) verify this on linux/unix? I think it's clear this isn't a problem on Win32. When I checked the JMF media-player, it shared this problem, so this is probably an underlying issue with JMF. Someone more experienced than me should verfy however. In fact, can anyone verfy that the media player works on linux at all. It's been broken for ages in the betas (a different issue I know)...
I have tested the mediaplayer under linux and it works (m156). But it works only with a few file formats (http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/formats.html ). Also dragging the slider on the bar works and updates the picture to the current stage. Please make sure that you are using an offical OOo build and not a FedoraCore build. Thanks for your help.
