Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 44243
undo/restore icons labels are not understandable (can't undo)
Last modified: 2009-11-10 16:00:09 UTC
When you customize the Standard toolbar you will find these labels : Can't Undo Can't Restore You will find them again if you are searching for a command in the Edit category. These commands should simply be labelled : Undo restore
->Liz: please have a look.
I think this is due to the fact that icon labels, the names in the customize dialog and the menu commands all are only one resource string used 3 times. Need to research why the "can't" form of the menu command is used.
liz->CD: Are the positive labels "undo" and "restore" also available in the central xml file? (they must be because they are on the menu) If so please exchange them for these negative labels, so that only the positive ones appear in the customize dialog. If not, please fix this so that they are. Thanks!
cd->liz: re the positive labels "undo" and "restore" also available in the central xml file? No, there are not available in the central xml file. The labels are dynamically set by the applications, whenever the undo/redo stack changes. That's why you can see undo/redo in the menu after you have completed the first undoable operation.
cd: Accepted.

Confirmed with OOo 2.0.3rc6 (en-GB). The text for these toolbar items isn't affected by whether it is possible to undo / redo, it always appears as: "Can't Restore" / "Can't Undo". Regards, Andrew

@CD/AMA: could we try to fix this for 3.2 in CWS swundo4 ("UI + Undo"-CWS)?
Please add "can't" to the summary (for searching reasons). I think, also if redo/undo at a moment is impossible, the entry in menu edit, the over-button-popup and the entries in tool-customise-menus/keyboard/toolbars should always be undo. Everybody will understand, that in an unchaned document undo id impossible. I don't understand the always negative entries.
