Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 44641
Outline numbering separator values are corrupted when saving and re-opening a document in Word XP format
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:25:39 UTC
Create document with headings 1 to n using the stylist. Now go to Tools | Outline Numbering. *For level 1 set the Paragraph Style to "none" and Number to "none". Then for level 2 set the paragraph style to heading 2 and number to "1,2,3...". For level 3 set paragraph style to heading 3 and number to "1,2,3..." and so on through the levels required in your document. For levels 2 to n, set the after separator to ". " (dot and space) to separate the numbering from the heading text. Your headings now look for e.g. like: 1.1. Heading 2 1.1.1. Heading 3 etc. Now save the document in Word XP format and close it. Re-open the same document again. The headings are now in this format: .1.1. Heading 2 .1.1.1. Heading 3 etc. In the Outline Numbering dialogue box the separator that was placed in the "after" field has been copied to the "before" field also. *N.B. This corruption only appears to occur if you have set level 1 outline numbering as described above. If you define level 1 paragraph style as "heading 1" and numbering as "1,2,3,..." then the corruption does not occur. ** N.B. Also occurs in 2.0 beta.

Of course not a Prio1 issue, lowered to P3.
MRU->HBRINKM: the additional seperator is also available in the "before" box of outline when reloading the exported file.
Considering the effort, the priority, the risk and our resource planning I've to retarget this issue to OOo Later.

My vote is the first one for this issue, although it's rather old. Still the same problem with 2.4. Instead of "I – HEADING", I got "-I HEADING".
