Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 45400
Including Unicode arrows and maths symbols in Catalog
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:34:33 UTC
Hello ! Your maths "Tools : Catalog... : Special" is too short a list. Unicode 21A6 arrow is very used in French mathematics, from High school on. As a consequence, it's also used in many French speaking countries, as well as probably in some other European countries. I suggest most Unicode mathematical operators (2200 to 22F1) be included in the catalog if their equivalents are not accessible otherwise. More Unicode arrows (2190 to 21EA) could be added too. This feature should be added at least when the user has chosen a Unicode font in Format : Fonts. Another way to get the same result would be to provide the Writer "Insert : Special Character" feature in the formula editor. In fact, I can add any Unicode character in a formula, but I have to close the formula, insert the caracter in the Writer text (Insert : Special character), copy the character, re-open the formula, paste the character. Then it appears correctly in the formula itself (if I have chosen a Unicode font in the formula format), but is replaced by a small rectangle in the formula editor window.

If we solve issue 39656, we could also close this one ... and also 46972!
