Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 45705
Linking to external spreadsheets to cell names doesn't work
Last modified: 2005-09-07 02:27:35 UTC
OOo version 1.9.79 I have two spreadsheets. Sheet A has two cells that are named, each of which calculated from two other cells. (as an aside: the names are current_total, new_total). Sheet B is blank. From Sheet B I do the following: - Select Cell (say) C12. - Insert | Link to external data - Select Sheet A. - [At this point 'current_total' and 'new_total' are shown.] - Select 'current_total' - Click OK The field formula is set to: =C9+C2 which is then evaluated locally to 0. The field formatting seems to be copied from Sheet A!current_total I do it again on cell D26, this time I got the formula =D23+D16. Again, formatting was copied. I changed SheetA!current_total to be calculated from three other cells, such as: =H15+H8+I8 and then link to SheetB, the sheetB cell becomes: =G14+G7+H7. So: it looks like the formula is being copied rather than the value, and then moved relative, then evaluated locally. The formatting is also copied. I have scanned for this bug in your database. A similar one exists where external data links are wrong, but it was 'closed' with a comment of 'WORKSFORME' from the developer. That bug had little detail so I am hoping that the extended detail in this report will help. All the best with it. Paul
confirming. tuatara: can you give the issue number of the issue that has been closed as WONTFIX"? Note: I've not been able to link to a named cell an a external spreadsheet at all, so this should not be closed as "WONTFIX"
Per your question: I can't find the "WORKSFORME" bug. Darn. Sorry about that - but I hope you are able to reproduce this one from my description. Cheers. Paul.
I think I found the other issue that was marked "WORKSFORME". Its 44432.
Hi, Issue 44432 has nothing in common with this one. This Issue is a double to Issue 3740 . Frank *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 3740 ***
closed double
Please see my comments against issues 3740 and 44292, I believe this is an important issue that needs fixing in version 2.0, and should not be left as some 'future enhancement'.
