Description umr5174 2005-03-22 14:29:37 UTC
Hello !

I open a new spreadsheet,
then click on "background color" button and choose "green" (for example) :
nothing happens,
"Tools: options: appearance: document background" being set to "Automatic"
(hence blue, from my K.D.E. colours, I think) or to "white".

I'd expect A1 cell (selected by default) colour turn green.

The same thing happens if I select one or several cells, already filled (with
text or formulae) or not.

hi, cannot reproduce with m86. also found no duplicate for this one.
could you please retry with m87 available from
http://download.openoffice.org/680/index.html
Which window manager are you using?
Thank you in advance for checking,
Max

I've just retried with m87: same problem.
The problem is the same if I use Format: cell: background, or via the contextual
menu: Format cells...: background.
It's also the same for cell borders colours.
I use XFree86 and KDE 3.2 .

tested again with m90-s1 on gnome 2.6,
cannot repro,
umr5174, is this issue still valid?
Comment 4 umr5174 2005-04-07 09:13:05 UTC
Can anyone test it on K.D.E. 3.2 + XFree86 ?
I don't know where to get OpenOffice m90-s1 (For m87 : nothing new since my
previous description).

I think what he means is that the Background Color button is not "sticky" like
it is in Excel. Once you select a color, the button should stay "stuck" on that
color so you can highlight any cell and click the button to change the
background color to the last color selected. Using v1.9.91 on WinXP.

Oops! Sorry about above comment - didn't see the comments section first time
around. Anyhow, my problem (with WinXP) is as described - Background Color
button not "sticky".

Hi,

tried it on KDE3.2 and xfree86 with OOo1.9.91. Works as a charme. Therefore
closed wfm.

OOo 1.9.91,
Mandrakelinux 10.0 Official, so XFree86 4.3.0.1, Linux 2.4.19-44mdkenterprise
i686 [ELF],
K.D.E. 3.2 BRANCH >= 20040204
Spreadsheet cell background colour and cells border colour can't be changed (See
my descriptions above).
I had defined my own (dark) colours for K.D.E., and for OOo 1.1.4 but defined
nothing special for OOo 1.9.91 (except reusing OOo 1.1.4 parameters), whose
background is white.
I had got error messages when installing OOo 1.9.91 from RPMs.
I can't find any useful log file.
