Description goc 2005-03-30 21:13:24 UTC
When I have a file open that exhibits scroll bars and move the mouse across such
a scrollbar from the outer to the inner (ie, entering the document canvas), then
the whole canvas is redrawn, resulting in screen flicker.

This is a nuisance which hurts the eye. It would be very nice if you could fix
it (although it looks like a hard problem to me).

Hello Max,

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about, but of course you can have some
details about my system. If you need to know anything specific, please ask. In
the meantime, here's some generic information about the affected computer:

Hardware architecture: PC
CPU: P3 Coppermine
RAM: 512 MB
Disk: 2x 36GB SCSI

OS: Debian Linux (unstable), most of the time at most two weeks behind,
running kernel 2.4.27-2-686-smp

Graphics: 1280x1024 @ 16 bit colour depth

1.1.4 doesn't have this problem on the same machine (ok, I can live with it when
I don't have to stare at the screen for hours, but I do).

Hi goc,

sorry for delay and thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice.org...

please add some information about
- Desktop (FluxBox/Gnome/KDE/IceWM/WindowMaker/XFCE/....)
- used Theme
- 3D-acceleration enabled?

Does this effect occur using a newer version (i.e. m93)?

thanks... :)

Hi, you asked:

> - Desktop (FluxBox/Gnome/KDE/IceWM/WindowMaker/XFCE/....)

plain FVWM on top of X11, no Gnome

> - used Theme

n/a

> - 3D-acceleration enabled?

I have an NVIDIA TNT2 card which does not have any 3D accelleration
(I think). The other card I have also doesn't have it (Matrox G450).

> Does this effect occur using a newer version (i.e. m93)?

I wasn't yet able to test that, maybe next weekend.

Because you are using a pretty old version, I think it may be due to the GTK plugin.
Please test this again in a current version (m109) and test if it still happens
in the beta when switching the plugin off this way:
in a term:
setenv SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN gen
or
export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen

then start OOo from this term.

Feel free to reopen if it still occures in a current build.
