Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 4641
WW8: Character style font encoding not used during import
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:43:23 UTC
When I convert an existing Word 2000 document (I could send you one if it is helpfull) only parts of the documentare being converted properly. Other parts are being converted only partly (ex. HTML-link is being converted properly (the link) but the text to the link is shown as many boxes). Then there are parts that are only being convertet to boxes. I have observed that this can happens when the text was written in bold in the original. If it is helpfull I can send you one of the Word 2000 Docs and send you the converted version too. You just have to get in contact with me through e-mail. Then I can send you documents showing the problem.
The problems stated above didn't occur with all the doc files on my pc. With another doc file the problems mentioned didn't occur but OpenOffice didn't convert the "Fill Up Tab" function used in the doc correctly. When I looked at the tab settings in OpenOffice the Fill Up option was taken over correctly, but it wasn't shown on the screen.
Please send the files in question directly to Michael (mru@openoffice.org). Thx. Reassigned to Michael.

Recieved the documents now.
Created attachment 2738 [details] DOcument with corrupted Hyperlink
MRU->CMC: The main problems (text corrupted after import) is already fixed in 643 build. But there still remains an issue with hyperlinks. I attached a sample, where the first hyperlink only displays "boxes" as characters after import.
The link is in a character style, but we were not looking to possible character styles before paragraph styles when figuring out the font encoding, and the font encoding for the default para style is the Symbol font!, will hopefully be in SRX644g
mark as resolved and rename suitably.
Reopen to reassign
Working in SRX644c
will work with OpenOffice 1.1 Beta.
Closed, because fixed for OO 1.1 Beta.
