Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 48225
Cannot paste HELP content (and other content) from 2.0 Help to OOo 1.1.4
Last modified: 2005-04-27 08:27:01 UTC
You cannot cut and paste content from the OOo 1.9.95 online help to a 1.1.4 document (Writer) successfully. The result is the insertion of an object labeled "SvOutPlaceObject" into the 1.1.4 Writer document. Pasting to other text editors, OOo 1.9.95 and MS Word appears to work fine. This only happens when pasting from OOo 1.9.95 (and lower) to 1.1.4.
nostabo, I can not believe that you tested on all platforms and on all OS :-/ Please specify. I checked with 1.1.4 (German) WIN XP: [645m52(Build8824)] and 2.0 (1.9.m79) English version WIN XP: [680m79(Build8876)] Steps to reproduce: 0. Open both versions 1. goto 2.0, open Help, index 2. boto subject 1/2 replacement 3. mark fom header "use replacement table" to "... press F3" 4. <cntrl>+<c> 5. goto 2.0 text document, try to "past special" all possibilities expected: works actual: as expected 6. try other editors like WORD, MOZILLA HTML-Editor, EDIT-PAD <cntrl>+<v> expected: works fine anywhere actual: as expected 7. goto empty new 1.1.4 writer document and try all "past special" expected: all will work actual: "OOo 1.9.79 HTML Document" and "DDE" do not work, "HRML"-problem as reported, "DDE" only will show empty field 8. goto empty new 1.1.4 calc document and try as under 7. result: more or less like under 7. Because Paste works anywhere, I believe that is a 1.1.4 problem and not 2.0 I changed component and others, but that should be checked by someon with more knowledeg! By the was something completely different: I was not able to select a better Version "1.1.4" (not offered) or better subcomponent "code" (not offered).
Pls ignore my comment "something completely different:"!
This is problem does not only exist for HELP-Content. Most 2.0 content can not be pasted to 1.1.4 This is more or less a dup of issue 43215 Might be useful to close this issue "WONTFIX"
"nostabo, I can not believe that you tested on all platforms and on all OS :-/ Please specify." Linux (Gentoo) Windows XP Windows 2000 From Issue 43215: "OOo 1.x does not recognize OOo 2.0 format. This is a known issue which won't be fixed for reversed compatibility is not a goal." OK... "Please use Edit - Paste Special and other formats." Thanks for the advice...
