Description s0larian 2005-05-01 07:36:00 UTC
OK, sometimes, when openning word files with russian text, the codepage isn't
detected correctly. The fonts are set OK, but the letters are not russian. The
only workaround I know of is to open such files in MS Word and save them in some
 other format. (ie word97 or 2000)

MRU->FLR: can you please have a look. It's quite odd. When I open the attached
document in Word 2003, it displays Chinese characters. But OO will show
something completly wrong.

I have just retested with the offical OO.org v2.0.0 and the bug remains.
Comment 5 s0larian 2006-05-03 08:38:34 UTC
I have just retested with OpenOffice 2.0.2 and the problem persists. Note, the
attached sample file is compressed with Zip.

this is possibly easy to fix, see CharSet SwWW8ImplReader::GetCurrentCharSet()
 in ww8par.cxx, switch (pLang->GetLanguage())

It might be sufficient to add a fallback default encoding for russian after the
LANGUAGE_CZECH: entry
