Description pascalv 2005-05-01 12:30:25 UTC
SUMMARY

It would be a good upgrade if the hyperlinks formatting could be preserved when
exporting to Microsoft Word doc format as it is currently preserved when
exporting to RTF format

EXAMPLE:

Take a sxw file with hyperlinks (test.sxw at
http://pascalv.freeshell.org/pub/20050501_OOo_Report/)

Some Type 1 links have the automatic formatting of hyperlinks (blue and underlined).
Some Type 2 links have a special formatting (example Bold, Black and *not*
underlined).

FIRST EXPORT:
Save this test.sxw file as RTF format file test_from_OOo_to_RTF.rtf

Open this new rtf file with Microsoft Word 2003

Results:
Type 1 links are OK
Type 2 links are OK ==> GOOD

SECOND EXPORT:
Save the test.sxw file as Microsoft Word XP doc format file
test_from_OOo_to_doc_XP.doc

Open this new doc file with Microsoft Word 2003

Results:
Type 1 links are OK
Type 2 links have become like Type 1 links ==> PROBLEM

THIRD EXPORT:
Open the test_from_OOo_to_RTF.rtf file with Microsoft Word 2003
Save as test_from_OOo_to_RTF_from_Word2003_to_doc.doc

Results:
Type 1 links are OK
Type 2 links are OK ==> GOOD but need 2 exports for get doc file with preserved
hyperlinks formatting

ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION:
Convince Recruiters to accept resumes in other format than Microsoft Word doc

MRU->FLR: there is a hyperlink which isn'T formatted like a typical hyperlink.
This isn't preserved when exporting to WW8 format.

This problem also occurs when saving .ODT files with links to .DOC format.

This poses a serious issue for those of us who want to source our resumes in an
OO format but have to export to .doc format, as that's what Human Resources
personnel tend to want.

I select format.character.hyperlink and try many options but I still can't get
rid of the underlying hyperlink effect in my text. Is there no workaround?

Are you sure that your comment applies to this issue?
Anyway, to remove the "hyperlink" attribute you have to select the complete text
with the "hyperlink" attribute, open "Format-Character-Hyperlink" and delete the
URL of the hyperlink in the dialog.
