Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 4892
Context Menu: Select with right mouse click
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:15:02 UTC
In Excel it is possible to directly select a row/columjn with the right mouse button in de the border and then getting the menu to use a function. In openoffice you first need to select the row/column and then can use the right mouse button. This is very unhandy.
One for the PM
When right-clicking on a column or row header (or on the select all space top left) do the following: Open the contect menu AND select the connected range (full row/column for row/column header; complete sheet for "select all" area) Reason: If a user wants to apply formatting or the like to a comlete row/column/sheet he has first to select and the to invoke the context menu. These two steps can be combined. Please give approval for this evaluated OO.o 2.0 flagged issue. If you confirm with the target OO.o 2.0, then please keep it on your owner (or the owner of the concerning developer) for implementation. In case you want this issue for 'OOo Later', then please reset the target milestone. If you decline the issue finally, please set the resolution to 'Wontfix' (but do not close). In case of 'OOo Later' or 'Wontfix' please reset it on Bettina's owner. Thank you.
Matthias, you still need to update the "Context for Context Menus" specification. My understanding is that a row is *not* to be selected if a range was already selected that contains cells from the row.
yes. will be fixed for OOo2.0 http://specs.openoffice.org/ui_in_general/menus/Context4ContextMenus.sxw
the spec has been updated. Thanks, Niklas!
This is the same as issue 18735, which is part of the PCD handling, so I'm closing this one although it's older. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 18735 ***
