Description goodwinm 2005-05-23 09:47:23 UTC
This is to follow-up on issue 47703. The answer I received doesn't fulfill the
actual request. Its not about just any way to cut&paste data from Calc to Base
(especially not such a complicated way as described in the proposed solution).
It's the request for an equally short and elegant way as used in MS Access. For
attaching fields copied from a spreadsheet you just have to mark the empty last
line in the opened table and paste. The data in the clipboard is attached to
the table (if the format fits the table and all other criterias like uniqueness
are met). This can be a single row of data or multiple rows. All rows, which
can't be pasted for whatever reason are stored in a table called "PASTE
ERRORS", which is created by MS Access as needed. There is no need to do any
surplus typing or navigating through so many wizard windows.

In my particular case I work with an SQL database and connect to it through
ODBC.

If you have to call upon such a feature repeatedly during the curso of your
work, a solution calling a wizard and prompting you to input all kinds of
information is to slow and awkward as a acceptable solution.

Hi,

I reassign it to the User Experience Team for evaluating.

I am evaluating database front ends for a company parts database.
After attempting the procedure in issue 47703, I have not been able to achieve
the same results as in Access. I second the request that a simple copy and paste
feature be made available. This so far is a large tick in the box for Access.

I am using OO2 RC1 on Windows XP, so perhaps OS should be ALL and the version
number should be bumped.
