Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 49810
French mathematical standard font absent
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:41:39 UTC
AFNOR (Association française de normalisation, the main French standard organisation) recommands the use of + latin and greek alphabets, + italic/upright and bold/normal attributes, + small and capital letters, + one default (typewritten) font plus one script font to write maths. In fact the recommanded script style is a French traditional handwritting (like FrenchScript font) known in French as "lettres de rondes". These characters shapes, taught in primary school in France, are a bit like Chancery, but differ from them. Some of them appear as special symbols in Unicode letterlike chart: script g (character 0x210A), script capital H (210B) etc. It'd be a good idea to provide an easy access to such a font in the "custom fonts" list of the fonts dialog. Such a font should be, by default, a script font (not Bitstream, like all the other ones).
Reassigned to requirements.
