Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 50108
Chosen font doesn't apply to Catalog symbols
Last modified: 2005-06-24 07:43:33 UTC
If I insert symbols thank to the Catalog, they don't belong to any of the chosen fonts. If I change the fonts afterwards, this doesn't apply to these symbols. The used font is not my text document default one either. A consequence is that symbols in my formulae don't look like the same symbols in my text. Of course, some installed fonts don't provide these symbols, so greek and mathematical symbols could be optionaly exempted from formula chosen fonts, but this can't be systematic, specially when the user uses Unicode charset. Moreover, if I want to change symbols font by using symbol editor, I have to do it one symbol at a time !
Hm, at the moment I cannot imagine what is going on here. Could you please attach a short document so that I can see what's wrong here? Feel free to reopen issue when you have done so. Thank you very much for supporting us!
Created attachment 27373 [details] MS Word 97 italic letters not italic once converted
Sorry ! the previous attachment is a mistake (due to the fact Bugzilla automatically change issue after a comment has been added.)
Created attachment 27376 [details] Characters inserted from Catalog don't follow chosen font
Created attachment 27377 [details] Symbols can only be defined one by one
I hope the 2 attachments make the point clearer.
The symbols have their own fonts (including the typeface), which is assigned in the symbol catalog. Because all the fonts are not equal (do not contain the same characters/symbols) a different way won't work. If you create a symbol via catalog from the OpenSymbol font, which is not available e.g. in "Times new Roman" it would be displayed wrongly if you try to apply "Times New Roman" to this symbol in the command window.
Cclosed. This is also the reason, why these symbols have to be inserted via the syntax e.g. "%APLPHA"
