Description millerrobe 2005-06-01 21:01:19 UTC
This applies to Impress and Writer (and probably others).

Documents created with either MS PowerPoint or OO 1.1.4 that have hyperlinks
greater in length than about 130 characters are truncated when read by OO 2.0
Beta. OO 1.1.4 reads without a problem a hyperlink created with MS PowerPoint
with a length greater than 130 characters.

Repeatable: Always
Create a hyperlink in MS PP with a length greater than about 130 char, Save
Open file with OO 1.1.4
Click on link - open successfully
Open file with OO 2.0 beta
Click on link - note that URL is truncated

Can you attach a document where this is visible? I have produced here a link
with more than 130 characters and it opens ok in 2.0. Thanks.
Comment 2 wolframgarten 2005-06-02 14:43:37 UTC
Thanks for the doc. Ok, this works under windows but under Linux not. The link
is correctly imported into OOo. When I select it in edit mode (black background)
and use edit/hyperlink there is the full link visible. Even the tooltip shows
it. Maybe it is not handed over correctly to the browser.

Please have a look.
Comment 4 millerrobe 2005-06-02 15:24:22 UTC
Yes, the handoff to the browser seems to be the problem. If I switch browsers to
use Konqueror (instead of Firefox), the problem repeats. OO 1.1.4 is OK, 2.0
Beta is not.

hi millerrobe,
does the problem persist with the latest snapshot build?
Comment 6 flibby05 2005-06-15 20:21:41 UTC
millerrobe: please ignore my last comment
Comment 7 flibby05 2005-06-15 21:42:20 UTC
millerrobe, i'd also like to reproduce. which window manager do you use? thanks, Max
Comment 8 millerrobe 2005-06-16 12:59:18 UTC
Fedora Core 4 (pre)
KDE 3.4

Problem still there is latest snapshot (109). When I mouse-over the link and
right click to get Interaction, the full hyperlink is displayed in the Document
window. I can click on the Document window and copy the hyperlink, then paste
into my browser and successfully open the document. As mentioned in an earlier
post, it seems that the problem is getting the link to the browser when doing
the usual left mouse click on the link.

Changing browsers from Firefox to Konqueror has no effect.
