Description bustamam 2002-05-20 05:42:18 UTC
To reproduce:

1) Start Writer
2) Type URL in the URL field like "http://www.yahoo.com/
A new window will appear and both the original and the new window is frozen.

Joost->Bustamam: I think you might need an internet proxy
configuration. It seems the address isn't resolved correctly so OOo
waits for an idle time to mention that the address cannot be resolved.
Please configure a proxy in /Tools/Options/Internet/Proxy and give
response it it helped. If you input an URL into the URL field then the
application wants to open it from that location.

I have this same problem. I don't have a proxy, and I set the proxy
settings to NONE. It still happens with many (but not all) URLs.
http://www.yahoo.com/ always does it.
Comment 3 bustamam 2002-06-13 15:06:27 UTC
I'm using it without proxy too.
Comment 4 prgmgr 2002-09-22 06:59:27 UTC
Does this problem still exist in OOo 1.0.1?

Could you please list step by step instructions on how to reproduce
this issue?

I am not confident I know which URL field everyone seems to be
testing.

JA->MBA: reassigned to you. The application mentions "invalid URL"
after a timeout. Defined target flag to 1.03
Comment 6 prgmgr 2002-12-03 17:19:37 UTC
Works for me.

RH 8.0, OOo 643c, No Proxy server, Automatic DNS.
Comment 7 Mathias_Bauer 2002-12-09 08:57:27 UTC
It works for me if the proxy settings are correct. With wrong
settings (or any other network problems that could prevent correct
name resolution and connection) I get a timeout. This is bad but not
fixable without a multithreaded file loading. So it is not a bug,
it's just bad luck.

Because the bug reporter claimed to have correct settings: this works
for me.
