Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 50764
When copying text from website, there's a character limitation
Last modified: 2005-06-15 14:12:27 UTC
When I try to copy and paste a large amount of text from a particular website (http://allpoetry.com), the text gets cut off at 65535 characters. I used both Mozilla Firefox (1.0.4) or Internet Explorer (6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) with the same results. I've tried copying the text to other applications (ie. Notepad, Word) and it works fine. Also, copying and pasting from Notepad into Writer had no problems. The strange thing is when copying from the website to MS Word to Writer, the character limitation still applies. However, copying from the website to Notepad to Writer, it doesn't. The same thing applies if I saved the document in Word and restarted/reopened the documents. I would attatch these files along with the saved Writer documents but I'm not sure how to attach files. Maybe it could help in determining the problem. Here's the particular link that I tried to copy from: http://allpoetry.com/Story/1118044. I attempted to copy from "You are my friend..." near the beginning up to "he had no clue how this man knew his name." at the end of the page. I'm using OpenOffice.org 1.9.109 on Windows XP Pro. My computer has 256MB RAM, if that would be of any help.
