Description wizard580 2005-06-21 06:54:31 UTC
I try to open a 14Mb *.doc file in OO 1.1.4 (and 2.0beta) and writer crashes.
I convert this file to *.rtf by (ms word) and after veeery looong delay this
file opened in writer. Then I save this file as *.sxw, and try to open this
file in writer. Writer crashed.

Give me a email, and I'll send archive of this file to any who needes it.

Please, fix this bug. It very bad.
And, also, you can try to speed up document opening...

Did you already try to do this with OpenOffice 2.0 build? the newest builds are
quite stable and much better then Beta status.
If the problem still occurs, send the document to mru@openoffice.org. You can
also attach it here, if it is not confidential. Feel free to reopen issue when
you have done so. Thanks for supporting us!

Comment 4 michael.ruess 2005-06-23 08:55:10 UTC
MRU->FME: While formatting the document, Writer gives Assertion ":-(
Layoutgerüst wackelig (this not found)." several times.
Document is about 14 MB, I'll share it to you.

well. can you fix this in 2.0 release? (or only in 2.0.1?? :(( )
Comment 6 frank.meies 2005-06-28 15:45:42 UTC
FME->OD: Crashes in SwObjectFormatterTxtFrm::_FormatAnchorFrmForCheckMoveFwd().
Please have a look.
Comment 7 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2005-07-14 10:16:10 UTC
The investigation of the described defect reveals the following:
- In OOo 1.9.116 the crash is already fixed.
- The assertion, which occurs three times, isn't harmless, but the situation, in
which it occurs, doesn't cause an erroneous behaviour.
- The layout doesn't loop, but has a performance problem. It takes several
minutes on my machine (Windows XP, Pentium 4 1.8 GHz, 512MB memoray) to finish
the layout of this document.

As discussed with MRU, it's too risky to fix this performance problem for OOo
2.0.1. Thus, I retarget this issue.

@ od, can you please reconsider this target, because since 2005 this still has
terget OOo later. Thanks
