Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 51214
sal3.dll and win95
Last modified: 2005-06-29 19:13:55 UTC
There's a problem installing OOo on win95. The problem is with the file sal3.dll This issue has been taken from my native language forum
Hi konradst, thanks for supporting OpenOffice.org and reporting this issue. Could you give some more details, what exactly the problem is? I'll try to confirm this later today, but as Win95 is not officially supported from OOo 1.1 on, I'd rather close as wontfix, if there is nor easy solution. (Set prio to P3 for the same reason)
I couldn't test it myself, but users at the germanophone list gave it a try. Following results: - some were able to install OOo 1.9.79 - it is impossible to start 1.9.79 (due to mentioned imcompatibility of sal3.dll) even if it would be possible to fix that you will face some other problems: - there is no current Java environment for Win95 available (well OOo will run without it, but with less functionality) - I'd expect problems with complex text layout (even if you don't use it, there might be problems with imcompatible / missing dll's) - you'll need to patch your system / registry to be able to install and / or run OOo most of these problems cannot be resolved by the OOo team, as these are microsoft dependecies (such as the CTL-dll's). therefore I'm Closing as wontfix
