Description tom 2005-06-29 10:18:58 UTC
1. Open a new Calc document
2. Draw a shape
3. Select the shape and open the context menu
--> you cannot name a single shape. Only Groups of shapes can be named

This task is important because shapes that do not have names cannot be utilized
by accessibility tools. Also it is not understandable why single shapes can be
named in Draw/Impress but not in Calc. AFAIK it's only a UI issue.

Creating individual issues instead of a complete spec is what caused these
inconsistencies in the first place, so we shouldn't continue it.

Renaming of graphics and groups was added to Calc for #97665#, with a feature
announcement. For Writer there was #97664# (similar), and #99734# for
Draw/Impress only.

So right now, there's nothing that says the current behavior is wrong. If we
want to change anything, we have to follow the "enhancement" process, with a
specification.

CJ -> FL: Before we start writing a new spec we should check if one already
exist. Frank, you have accompanied the Name Object feature, we've introduced in
oo.o 1.1. Could please send Niklas a pointer to the spec. Thank you.

Please see "Naming of drawing objects" section in the following spec. for details:
http://specs.openoffice.org/appwide/accessibility/Accessibility_Issues_For_OpenOffice_2.0.1.odt

Please note separate issue i51726 for Writer.
