Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5142
Table cells spanning (multiple) pages
Last modified: 2003-11-01 04:06:59 UTC
OpenOffice.org's wordprocessor unfortunately lacks one important feature, that is table cells spanning (multiple) page boundaries. This feature is needed for all kinds of reporting activity, like meeting minutes, activity lists as well as for the layout of manual pages, where more than 2 columns are needed and cell entries usually consist of several lines of texts, probably more than fits on one page. Other wordprocessor software like MS-Word or Lotus Word have been providing this functionality for years, so its also an important issue regarding compatibility with other Office products. With the current version of OpenOffice.org you end up with either the contents of your table cell not being displayed - lines vanish at bottom, if you use more lines than fit on one page, or - if you are using more cells with large number of lines but each cell with less lines than fit on one page - your layout looks ugly garbled because up to the half of each page remains empty when OOo attempts to rearrange display so that at least the stuff can be displayed. I hope this functionality will be provided in the near future. Thanks in advance, Guido
