Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 52110
Ctrl-backspace not implemented fully correctly
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
I have tested this on Oo 1.9.113 on WinXP and Oo 1.1 on Ubuntu Linux. Ctrl-backspace, as implemented, deletes a word and then places the cursor at the end of the word before. The correct implementation, as displayed by Word and Emacs and Vim, is to delete the word, and place the cursor one space beyond the word before it so that the user can begin typing the replacement immediately.
I also think, that it's better to keep the space character at the end of the last word when deleting the succeeding with "Ctrl-Backspace". But: MS Word only keeps the space when the cursor is right of the last word in the paragraph... when the cursor is placed at the end of a word somewhere in the middle of the para, the space will also be deleted. in this point Writer behaves the same and it really makes sense here I think. So please only correct the behaviour when the cursor is at the end of a paragraph.
Duplicate of http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=23872 As for removing the space if you're not at the end of the paragraph, that's not an obvious rule. And if you do want to remove the space, your finger's already on the backspace key. Therefore, if I fix this issue, I will not use such a rule.
