Would it be possible to include an extra option when pasting text from e.g. 
the web, so that one can paste text without pictures/graphics/images.

thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice.org...

IMHO you are searching for the following:
- do a long click on the "paste"-symbol
- you can choose from a menu:
     - HTML 
     - unformatted text

MCI's proposal will miss out the formattings from the copied text.

The Issue you raised is currently assigned to 'Requirements' pending review, but
has not been updated within the last 3 years. Please consider re-testing with
one of the latest versions of OOo, as the problem(s) may have already been
addressed. Either use the recent stable version:

Hi

Unfortunately this is still a problem. There is no option to paste as Formatted
Text from the internet into OOo Writer. Have verified this with OOo 2.4.0.
Perhaps this can be integrated with a version of OOo 3.0.
