Once upon a time, I OCR'd a page into Word with a complicated table and it  
converted okay.   
 
In a table with many and varied rows and columns, the left-hand set of cells 
in one place has vertical text formatting set to bottom, where the rest of the 
cells are vertically formatted to top. 
 
The file was opened and used in OOO 1.1.4 where the problem existed.  In  
1.9 it exists too.  In both cases, I can go back and change the vertical 
formatting manually, but it should work better in the future. 
 
Please give me an email address to attach and send the offending file for 
examination.

You should also some PDF file showing "how it should look" and some hints how do
find the "bad looking text" (strings for "search for").

Pls also specify your OS and Platform, I can't believe that you tested for "all" ;-)

Writer is not yet capable of displaying rotated/vertical text of that type. See
issue 25140.
