Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 52823
Selection of character size with mousewheel has wrong result
Last modified: 2009-07-14 10:59:29 UTC
When I create a diagram, if I select a text box in order to change the font size I have problems with scrolling. Steps to reproduce: -Create a new diagram with "Calc". Any data on it, but needs a title or any text box. -Select the text box and right-click, select "Object properties" (the first one in the list, it's a literal translation from ES locale). -In the font tab, want to select a big font, p.e. size 96, I scroll down until I click "96". No problem here. -I change my mind and I want to select a small font, p.e. 6. I scroll up until I click "6". Here's the problem, I select 40 instead of 6. If I repeat, almost allways I select a different font (sometimes smaller, sometimes the same). So the problem appears when I want to change the font for a second time (or third, fourth...), not when I first change the font size.
wrong component changed to chart and re-assign to owner of subcomponent.
This is not specific to the Chart, it is a problem in the font tab-page of the svx-dialog. ->OS: please have a look
I checked with 2.0 (1.9.m122) German version WIN XP: [680m122(Build8941)] and tried to change font size for chart title in an existing diagram, that worked for me without any problem. Also without any problem in a new file with new diagram.
I have re-checked with my Spanish 680m122 new installation on a different computer and it happens the same. I have re-read my reproduce steps and I still think they are correct, please tell me if there are any doubts. Now I discovered what really happens. If I select font size 96 and I change my mind to select another font size, I select the relative position in the screen from the origin font. I know this explanation is not clear: I don't know how to tell you. For example, re-selecting font size 6 (that is positioned at the top of the list, 6 positions above the last visible size), coming from font size 96 (that was positioned at the bottom of the list, with 6 visible font sizes above it) I select font "60" instead of 6. What is important is that you have to scroll with the mouse wheel the font size list, not to scroll with scrollbar. Scrolling with scrollbar does not have any unexpected results. Sorry guys, don't know how to explain this better. Comment anything, I just want to help.
Yes, arter the last report I was able to reproduce the bug with I checked with 2.0 (1.9.m122) German version WIN 98SE: [680m122(Build8941)], ATI READON 9600 and Mouse A4Tech PS/2 double wheel WOP-35 driver version 7.42.0.0. The problem is no special chart problem, it is visible in any character size adjustment menu. Steps to reproduce: 1. open new text document with 680m122 2. Type some text "xyz" 3. mark text 4. Menu: Format - character - font (you will see Size 12 or something like that) 5. mouseclick on actual character size 6. Move mousewheel to max character size (96) 7. one mouseclick on 96 (nothing unusual, first attempt always works fine) 8. Move mousewheel to other direciton until minimum character size (6) 8. one mouse click expected: "6" should be shown as currently selected font size actual: "60" or some other bigger character size will be shown. If you try further changes in the same way you will mostly fail to select the character size you wanted, you can't even be sure to do the change to the correct direction (want to decrease character size, but in fact you increase. Also visible with 2.0 (1.9.m113) German version WIN XP: [680m113(Build8930)] and 2.0 (1.9.m118) English version WIN XP: [680m118(Build8936)]. No problem with 1.1.4 (German) WIN XP: [645m52 (Build 8824)]
Also reproducible with 2.0 (1.9.m122) German version WIN 98SE: [680m122(Build8941)] and 1 wheel mouse A4Tech SWW-53
