Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 53206
Change Icon dialog: additional icons missing
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:04:57 UTC
Tools>Customize>Toolbars>Change Icon... In OOo 1.1 the Change Icon dialog offered several abstract icons like yellow smileys and colored checkmarks. They are gone in OOo 2.0. Please bring them back.
cd: Confirmed and accepted.
STS -> CD: Please make all these icons available in the IconTool, too. Thank you!
cd->sts: As discussed by phone, currently this is not possible. These files are not directly referenced by resource files, but delivered and packaged. We should find a way to get these files into our normal image process.
The images need to be converted to png and we have to add code that reads them, possibly also move them to images.zip. Too much for a patch release.
These icons now look incredibly dated and IMHO add little value. Should we in fact just stop packaging them altogether? Currently we are shipping this 80KB of unused images with each release... We are now moving towards the idea of OOo as extensible software. Surely we can just add 'icon packs' somewhere to dowload rather than bundling these into the suite (how many users will ever use them!?). Should you want to keep them, I can help generate the bmp->png if required. Regards Andrew
