Description rrthomasrr 2002-05-28 00:07:48 UTC
In a document imported from WinWord, I found that both in the table of contents
and the body of the document, there was no space between the section number
and the section title. In the original document, there was. This was the only
rendering error I could find in the document, which otherwise transferred very
well.

Thanks for posting Reuben.

Could you please post the file that created the problem?

If you open this issue 5323, there is a link "Create a new attachment" which will let you attach a file to this issue.

Thanks.

I tried creating a document with "Header 1" sections and some "body text" inside Word 2000. Then I created a TOC. I saved the file and opened it in OO. Everything rendered correctly.

However, I doubt this is what Reuben is referring to.

I've now added an attachment which shows the problem. It contains just
a heading which in Word 2000 comes out as:

1. Introduction

but in Office Writer as

1.Introduction

I hope that makes it easier to see and track down.

Thanks for attaching the document Reuben.

Duplicated issue on Win NT 4.0, OO 1.0.

Here is how to create the problem document from scratch.

1. Create a new Word 2000 document.
2. Format | Bullets and Numbering | Outline Numbered
3. Choose the selection at the lower right hand corner.'
    ( I will include screenshot )
4. Enter in some text.
5. Save the document.
6. Open up in OO 1.0

Notice how the space between the number and the text disappears. The
part that bothers me is I cannot see how Word is spacing the number
and the text.

Comment 14 michael.ruess 2003-01-31 15:24:49 UTC
Yep, Writer is not able to import this correctly. The distances are
all set to 0 cm in Word, but an additional Tab-character is set to
follow the number. Writer only offers fixed mesasures as distance
between number and text, no characters.
