Description cjwhrw 2005-09-03 12:47:48 UTC
The horizontal bars are too thick in the vertical axis and too short
horizontally. Please see this example:
   size 20 {bold A = left[alignr matrix{5#6#5##6#7#1##5#1#-1}right]
Comment 1 Matthias Basler 2005-09-03 16:14:47 UTC
Confirmed on WinXP with OOo1.9.125.

Well spotted!!!
This is a font scaling problem: The effect occurs stronger the larger the font
size is. Try with "size 60" and it becomes very prominent and really ugly.

This is "only" a cosmetical bug, but really nasty, so P4 should be appropriate?
I've not checked yet how a printout would look, btw.

(Maybe someone should do a throughout check for such issues that aries with
large font sizes?)

I checked with 2.0 (1.9.m125) German version WIN XP: [680m125(Build8947)] and
all lookeed fine for me also with character size 60, pls see screenshots!
Comment 5 Matthias Basler 2005-09-03 16:33:40 UTC
Hi rainer,

From your screenshot I can see that the matrix there was approx. 12 pt with 600%
zoom level because a 20 pt matix with 600% wouldn't fit on a usualy XGA screen.
But around 12 pt the brackets are indeed OK.

Please check once again with exactly below formula, inserted in Writer using
Insert->formula:
  size 60 {bold A = left[alignr matrix{5#6#5##6#7#1##5#1#-1}right]}
(P.S.: cjwhrw forgot the closing "}".)

If you still don't see the problem, don't worry. Others will. ;-)
Thanks.

The 08:15 picture looks good.
The 08:15 picture is the way I see things.

The first is the German version and the second we are not sure.

Is this another case where the German version is different (perhaps better than)
the English version.

With
"size 60 {bold A = left[alignr matrix{5#6#5##6#7#1##5#1#-1}right]}"
I saw the problem, too but:

Funny thing: _now_ I _always_ see the ugly brackts (also for ""size 60 { ...",
and I wonder, what setting or else I might have changed in between :-/
It seems that this is not 100% reproducible.

@ matthiasbasler:
Your presumptions concerning my screenshot are correct
Comment 8 Rainer Bielefeld 2005-09-03 17:25:39 UTC
I found out:

If I add the missing "}" bracket I always see the ugly looking brackets, as long
as I leave the formula without the missing "}", all looks fine in all tests.
Comment 9 Regina Henschel 2005-09-03 19:09:56 UTC
It seems to be a problem with 'size'. If you set Format -> Font Size -> Base
size to 60pt all looks fine.
Comment 10 cjwhrw 2005-09-04 00:46:08 UTC
I have played with a range of sizes on an XP. All have the problem.

Even the Math Doc (Chap 16) has the problem

I also followed Regina's suggestion, dropping the size in the formula and
modifying Format > Font Size. Still no luck.

It seems that the vertical part of the top bar is scaled too much and the
horizontal part not scaled enough.
