Description ed2 2005-09-12 13:53:58 UTC
First of all I don't really know where to file this request, so please
move/reasign it if it's in the wrong place.

Currently the Mozilla plugin only supports opening native OOo or OpenDocument
files inside Mozilla. It would be much more useful if the plugin could allow
files in any format that OOo can open to be opened inside Mozilla.

Yes, this is a problem. In OOo 2, the plugin only supports native OpenOffice
formats, not all formats. It will not open MS Word, Excel, or others. I believe
in 1.14 it opened all. For those of us who must deal with MS overload, this
would be a very valuable addition to the plugin.

For OOo 1.1.x we haven't had this feature.

Same thing for the ActiveX plugin. This one does display MS Office documents in
1.1.5 (just checked) but not anymore in 2.0

Yes, please add support for all supported document formats. This is annoying,
to say the least. If you are worried about the MS plugin interfering (which is
impossible with the Mozilla plugin, since MS doesn't have one), you can allow
the user to choose which extensions to open, with all set as default.
