Here is the patch for improve Japanese font handling on Mac OS X usnig Osaka font.

Created attachment 29523 [details] Patch for OOo_Admin.app/Contents/Resources/Scripts/main.scpt
Additionally executable fondu must be added to /Applications/OpenOffice.org1.1.5/program/. Note that binary version of fondu (040925) has a bug in converting /System/Library/Fonts/Osaka.dfont and so on, it is need to use the one from source (041222).
Of course this issue is important The first patch seems be applied to : officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/VCL.xcu The second to helpcontent/unx/common/english_US/custom.css (to be confirmed) So no apparent problem to put this in the sources. This first part can easely be integrated quickly. For the second, it's less easy to conclude. About main.scpt, we're just working on the installer, and I'll propose this modification. Same thing for fondu, but we have to verify before we respect OOo license. I actually have no clue if it is even possible. If we can use fondu inside, not only Japanese fonts are concerned, because this request is often made by Mac Users : how to use System fonts... btw, about fondu patch, I use the patched version (my own package) since ...ages :-)
@ericb: Is this still a valid issue since it is for the no longer worked on 1.1 series? James McKenzie
It seems that nobody is interested in this issue anymore. So I close it for now. This might hopefully bring up a reaction and make someone assign it a proper target. Or keep the issue closed. :-)
