Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5460
Corel Quattro Pro import filter/file open
Last modified: 2013-07-30 02:22:35 UTC
I would like to see import filters for QP files, at least version 7 to 10. Best regards Werner P.S. I would be happy to help testing such a feature.
Hi Falko, 1 4 u Frank
I am missing this feature as well...

We do not work on any other filter than MS Office ones. All other filter projects mnust be initiated and done by the community.

We are working on this.
So, Shilpa is working on this, turns out the format is not that difficult to get to grips with.
Dell has been supplying PCs with Corel Office with Wordperfect and Quattro ready installed for some time and small businesses have developed systems using these programs which do not transport well to any other office package. We have been using Corel office since 1998 and we do not have any programming ability on site but we are holding off implementing Open Office because of these legacy spreadsheets which we need to cross over. Is there any progress on releasing an import filter?
Today at lunch time I was asked about OpenOffice support for WordPerfect files. The one issue is the support for Quattro Pro files. This is a thread in the users mail list as well. Lack of support is a deal breaker in this case. Gnumeric will open wb3 files, kspread just crashes. Neither will open qpw files.
> Lack of support is a deal breaker in this case. So - we can help point you either to some documentation to help write this filter - we wrote (sadly) a filter tackling only the older QPro file formats a while back that should be included; anyhow drop me a mail :-)
troodon->mestech As mmeeks says there is already support for Quattro Pro 6.0 files. See issue 41688.
Speaking personally we have about 40% of our files in wb3 format and 60% in qpw format and we are currently using Quattro v11 and v12. wb2 is from pre 1998 and has never been used here
I'm confused -- is there a way to convert wb3 files yet??? I'm in desperate need (for 2005 taxes) of some info that may or may not be on a wb3 file I have. If a conversion is not available now, it would still be nice to have in the future. Thanks.
To update and clarify, what is needed is import filters for .QPW and .WP3 file formats. .QPW format (Quattro Pro Windows), has been in use since about 2003 (maybe earlier), and most people who have used Quattro Pro since then, have their files in .QPW format.
HEllo, I was wondering if there was any timeline for this issue?
