Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 54971
missing format possibility for bibliographic indexes
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:35:08 UTC
first: thanks for this wonderful bibliographic tool, it's very very helpful to me! but if i'm formating the bibliographic index (Insert > Indexes and Tables > Indexes and Tables > Entry tab) it is not possible to format the signs after an entry in the same manner as the entry itself - if the format of the following entry is different. Example: When I try to format: <strong> Hardin, Garrit (1968)</strong>, Tragedy of the Commens i get <strong> Hardin, Garrit (1968</strong>), Tragedy of the Commens It's because the field for entering signs after an category of entries could only be formated in accoordeance to the following category. Perhaps there is a trick, but it would be very comfortable if this can be done in the entry tab. Thanks a lot for done and future work, Petra
ES->OS: as described
Hello, Could you provide a step by step procedure how you achieved the second result? I tried this on my PC (1.6 GHz, 512 MB) with OpenOfficeorg Writer 2.0 RC and it works for me. In the first format I think you are aiming for the Author and the Year to be put in Bold Typeface in the bibliography. I tried it and the result is in the attached document) This is how I made it: 1. Add two entries 2. Move to second page 3. Insert bibliography (Insert --> Indexes and Tables --> Indexes and Tables) Set in Index/table tab the Type to Bibliography Move to Entries tab 4. In structure put brackets around Year code 5. Click on Author code 6. Go to character style (default is "none") and select "strong emphasis" 7. Click on Year code 8. Go to character style (default is "none") and select "strong emphasis" The result is that Author and Year are put in typeface "strong emphasis" and the first bracket is not (that is what your second format did?). A.Y.K. Jong P.S. Shouldn't this Issue start with status "UNCONFIRMED"?

ola, I begin on my Pc (1.0Ghz, 256MB) like you: 1. Go to character style (default is "none") and select "strong emphasis" but than I formatted: 9. Click on first bracket 10. Go to character style (default is "none") and select "strong emphasis" 11. Click on second bracket 12. Go to character style (default is "none") and select "strong emphasis" The result is than that Author and Year and brackets are put in typeface "strong emphasis" but also the next entry (i.e. the Title). And that's my problem - I like strong brackets without having the next entry formated too. yours Petra P.S: I'm very sorry - it should be UNCONFIRMED, I did a mistake. Now I see everywhere the explanations what issues should be set on NEW and which are not ;-(. Is there any possibility to change the status yet? I also thought I've wrote a full description, but when I read yours I recognized it was incomplete. Sorry, I try to do it better next time.

Hello, Thanks for your swift reply. I tried it again using the file you provided and followed your description, thanks! I noticed that I used different types of entries than yours (you = Article, I=book). This is what I think gave us different results. So I added your article entry to my file and what happens.... I get the same result as you do. The article entry title is in STRONG EMPHASIS, but the book entry titles stay NORMAL (see attached document). Seems like a real issue to me, because the STRONG EMPHASIS is inadvertently added to an Article.title. A.Y.K. Jong

ola, thanks for your reply, it's very nice. I like this system! I tried today to do the same with book entries, and there's the same problem. I think what gave us different results was that you havn't added a third entry. So it's not a problem of which entry-type you choose but one of the format-structure generally. I made a new list of steps: 1. Add entries 2. Move to second page 3. Insert bibliography (Insert --> Indexes and Tables --> Indexes and Tables) Set in Index/table tab the Type to Bibliography 4. Choose Article 5. Move to Entries tab, insert the folowing entries: Au Ye Ti 6. In structure put brackets around Year code 7. Click on Author code 8. Go to character style (default is "none") and select "strong emphasis" 9. Click on Year code 10. Go to character style (default is "none") and select "strong emphasis" 11. Click on first bracket 12. Go to character style (default is "none") and select "strong emphasis" 13. Click on second bracket 14. Go to character style (default is "none") and select "strong emphasis" 15. Do the same with book entries Petra
