Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 54988
Convert text to table should treat linefeeds as new rows but doesn't
Last modified: 2005-10-10 10:32:18 UTC
Discovered this in 1.1.5 and reproduced in 1.9.130. Text that has linefeeds instead of paragraph breaks, when converted to a table, does not use the linefeeds to break rows. You end up with everything on the same row; it took me a long time to figure out what was wrong.

This is actually the expected behaviour of both 2.0 and all previous versions of OOo. The text-to-table conversion sees paragraph breaks, not line breaks, as row delimiters. As this isn't a defect, I am closing the issue. If you have large amounts of text ending in line-breaks which you wish to convert to a table, I'd suggest using Find & Replace to change the line-breaks to paragraph breaks.
As Mark_westonpointed out, this works as designed. Closed issue.
