Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 55186
Overlapping hotkey (~O) in English Find&Replace dialogue
Last modified: 2022-12-16 15:46:54 UTC
There are overlapping hotkeys in the dialogue Find&Replace - "o" - meaning "More <O>ptions/Less <O>ptions" and "current selection <o>nly" in full view.
Reassigned to SBA.
Hello, This is confirmed on Openofficeorg Writer 2.0 RC, although the "current selection <o>nly" is now greyed out (see attached document). Should'nt this be a P5 (and not a P2) priority, since it is a "slightly inconsistent user interface"? A.Y.K. Jong

i think it's not P5, because, if you select another block of text without closing the dialogue, the option is not grayed-out and it is impossible to turn on "current selection only" without using additional pontig device or multiple tab-bing - using just keyboard shortcut.
SBA: The Option "Current selection only" gets automatically checked when the selection goes over a paragraph end. When there is no selection in the document, "current selection only" makes no sense, therefore it is greyed out and unchecked. As soon as a single character is selected, the option is back again. The fact that the shortcut "~O" occurs twice when the dialog is expanded, does not limit its use. When <Alt>+<O> is used repeatedly, the focus toggles between the "More Options" button and the "In Current Selection only" checkbox. And both can be used (use keys <Enter> and <Space> when the right one is selected) The scenario "Having the dialog open, changing the selection and not being able to reach the dialog without using the mouse" is not acceptable. You can not change the text selection without leaving the dialog. So WITH mouse, you can change the text selection and click back into the dialog. Now, WITHOUT a mouse you have to close the dialog to change the selection in the text. Being able to jump from the dialog to text and back would be an Enhancement issue and is NOT the subject here, because it has nothing to do with the double shortcut. Summary: The double shortcut in English UI is a P5 issue. Target sert to "OOo later" Reassigned to OS.
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
The "Version" field reads: 3.3.0 or older (OOo) The last version to see the "~o" problem was 3.2.1 Issue fixed, can be closed.
