Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 55678
Changing the table width also changes its alignment to manual
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:38:14 UTC
POC: 1. Insert a table into the document 2. resize it so that it is shorter than the page width 3. highlight table and set its alignment to centre 4. resize the table again Result: OpenOffice changed the alignment to manual when it should stay at the centre. I am only resizing the table with no intention to change its alignment.
This currently works as designed. Not always the user wants to change the the tables size and leaving the border of the table at the same position. Sometimes it is also desired, that the table should keep its "center" property. An option, which will control this (like in Tools.Options.Writer.Table) could be a good feature.
ahung -> mru: It is comparable to the situation when the user change a line of centered alignment. Would the program be so "smart" as to change the alignment to say "custom" for the user?
Any news on this issue? IMHO it is really boring to resetting the center option each time I update the table. According to me the correct behaviour should be that setting the center option must have higher priority than resizing column.
Still a problem in oo2.2 Let me reword my argument. Let's say you have entered a title in your document with center alignment. And you add a few words to it, which changes its length. Should the line of text stay centered or should it be set "manual". I believe the former is the correct behaviour. Similarly, changing the table width should have no effect on its alignment.
Confirm issue still exists as of OOO300m9
