Description temcat 2002-06-06 23:51:25 UTC
Seems like online layout mode works wrong. When you switch to it, left/right
page margins in the window are reset to null, no matter what they are in Format-
>Page (maybe it's made intentionally but I don't think there's much logic in
it). What's worse, if the document contains tables, export to DOC from this
mode results in incorrect setting right margin for tables and stretching them
to the right beyond the page.

THis was in OOo 1.0 ALT Linux build, but I'm pretty sure this problem is common.

Thank you.

Just a note:
Online layout is intended for creating web pages, there are no
margins in web pages.

Does this help?

Well, not only for web pages. I use it extensively for my everyday
work (I'm a translator). The point is, I need to have the text fitted
to the page regardless of the zoom I choose. This is impossible in
page layout mode. I don't care about layout at all; online layout mode
allows to concentrate on content, which is exactly what I need...

Can this issue be closed?

While I can confirm the information provided by the reporter, it does
not appear to be a defect. The reporter is attempting to use the
feature in a manner for which it was not designed.

From the Help file:
"Online Layout -- Displays the document as if it were in a web
browser. This is useful when you create HTML documents.
...
In the online layout view, the document is displayed with HTML template."

Therefore, it would follow that by utilizing online layout, an HTML
document is being created, and exporting that to .doc format creates
the table issues?

I am assuming that the "page width" selection for zoom does not
produce the working environment desired?

"The reporter is attempting to use the

OK, then treat it as an enhancement request to implement "Normal" mode
as it is implemented in MSWord. The reasons why I think this mode is
necessary are explained in my previous post.

But if anybody can show me another way to automatically fit text to
the page regardless of the text zoom chosen, then I would agree that
this issue could be closed. I still haven't found such a way, though.

Changed to RFE

Have you discussed this issue in the Users mailing list? The people
there usually have some pretty good ideas for things just like this.

This is Platform and OS independent. Flags changed to "All".
Enhancement reassigned to Bettina.
