Description unraveler 2005-10-26 13:48:14 UTC
In some tables, it is impossible to remove the table borders using the Table
Format dialog. A file is included that demonstrate the problem. I cannot
reproduce how that file was created : originally saved as sxw by OOo 1.1.X and
openened by OOo 2.0 and saved as odt.

1 - Open the file
2 - Right click in the table
3 - Select "Table" menu option
4 - Select Borders tab
5 - Under "Line arrangement", select the first option to the left (no border)

The visible borders of the table will because less thick, but they will not
disappear as would be expected.

MRU->OS: the borders are applied in each of two adjacent cells. It looks that
the dialog fails on removing such a border setting.

The workaround is to apply a full border in the first step. In the second step
the border can be removed.

I stumbled upon a way to consistently reproduce this bug (or I believe it's the
same bug).

Create new, empty Writer document.
Create 4x4 table.
Right-click anywhere in table and select Table...
Select Borders tab
Select "Set No Borders" under Line Arrangement > Default
Place Cursor in 2nd row, 2nd column cell
Drag and select 4 cells in center (cursor should end in 3rd column 3rd row)
Right-click, select Table...
Select Borders tab
Choose 5pt Line Style
In User Defined area, click top left corner, and bottom right corner to box the
User Defined with 5pt line.
Click in center (divider crossbar) of User Defined area to include a 5pt divider
line for cells.
Select Ok.
Center cells should have 5pt border and 5pt cell division lines.
Click anywhere in the table to deselect the center cells.
Right-click anywhere in the table, select Table...
Select Borders tab
Select "Set No Borders" under Line Arrangement > Default

Expected result is clear the entire table of any borders, but it leaves lines
spanning columns 2 and 3, dividing rows 1 and 2; and lines dividing columns 3
and 4, spanning rows 2 and 3.

The workaround still fixes the problem.

Ok.... This bug has been around for more than 3 years, can't someone fix this?
This is a bug that affects my productivity seriously and I'm sure I'm not the
only one...
