Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 57093
spellchecker rejects good word after user splits incorrect word
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:08:55 UTC
In the I'm going to attach, the "dataflow" is underlined by the spell checker as an error. When I add a space between "data" and "flow" (in the second occurence), the data stays underlined. It is possible to acces context menu and start spellchecking, add to dictionary or ignore. The spellchecker seems to think it still has to do with "dataflow" (that may be a big problem when you would not nottice this and click add to dictionary).

Sorry, the last attachement was supposed to go to a different issue, but your bug reporting application by itself displayed this one, after I added my comment to the other issue.
I was able to reproduce bug on OpenOffice 2.3.0/Linux OS. I found another variation of this bug that helps illustrate the problem. * Open OpenOffice. * Click “File†--> “New†--> “Presentationâ€. * Click “Create†in “Presentation Wizard†dialog box. * Select “Title, Text†from “Layouts†panel on the right. * Click on “Click to add an outlineâ€. This will place a text cursor in the text box. * Type “viewdatastream†in the text box. The word, “viewdatastream†is underlined in red indicating a spelling error. * Place a space between “view†and “datastreamâ€. * Next, place a space between “data†and “streamâ€. The words “view†and “data†are incorrectly underlined in red. In the above example, the sequence in which the spaces are inserted is paramount in determining which words are incorrectly underlined. For instance, if a space was inserted first between “viewdata†and “stream†followed by a space between “view†and “dataâ€, then only “view†is underlined in red. From these examples, a general behavior can be observed: when splitting an invalid word(with a space) into two words, the word to the left of the space becomes underlined(regardless of whether it is a valid word or not) and the word to the right of the space is not underlined(if it is a valid word). This general behavior helps explain the variations in underlined words with respect to different sequences of space placements. Case 1: place a space between “view†and “datastreamâ€, then place a space between “data†and “streamâ€: “viewdatastream†--> “view datasteam†--> “view data stream†(view and data are underlined). Case 2: place a space between “viewdata†and “streamâ€, then place a space between “view†and “dataâ€: “viewdatastream†--> “viewdata stream†--> “view data stream†(only view is underlined). However, when using spell check via F7 or “Tools†--> “Spellcheckâ€, the incorrectly underlined words(data, view) are correctly ignored; furthermore, this bug does not occur in text documents.
I am pretty sure that this is a DUP of Issue 26821. I set a "depends on" reminder
